Intro
Tech Rallies in U.S. as Oil Prices Hold Steady, European Markets Struggle
U.S. markets saw a positive performance driven by strong gains in the tech sector
The Nasdaq rose 1.4%, closing at 18,182.92, with stocks like Apple and Netflix leading the charge.
The S&P 500 climbed 1% to 5,751.15, while the Dow Jones posted a smaller gain of 0.3%, closing at 42,080.37.
Oil Prices Steady, Brent at $77.83
After days of volatility, Brent crude settled at $77.83 per barrel, while WTI crude closed at $74.12.
Earlier in the week, fears of Middle East disruptions pushed prices higher, but stabilization in inventories and easing tensions caused a modest pullback.
European Markets: China Troubles Weigh Heavy
In Europe, the sentiment was much more subdued. The FTSE 100 gained a modest 0.25%, but the DAX fell 0.1%, as China’s ongoing economic struggles reverberated across the continent.
The CSI 300 Index fell by over 7.4%, the steepest drop in more than a decade, leaving investors concerned about weaker-than-expected Golden Week data from China.
China's Drag on Commodities
Chinese markets tumbled further, disappointing global investors hoping for stronger stimulus from Beijing. Industrial commodities, heavily reliant on China’s demand, saw declines, adding to the downward pressure on European markets.
