☕️ Sunday Coffee: It Will Never Be the Right Time
Max here — Sunday thoughts over coffee ☕
My personal life & business column — a mix of life moments, investing insights, and reflections on long-term wealth building.
“I’ll take care of more important things first, and then I’ll start planning my savings and investments.”
That’s what I told myself 15 years ago. And I kept telling myself that for six years straight. Every year, I made plans, and every year investing stayed somewhere at the bottom of the list. The “right time” never came - there were always new reasons, new priorities, new excuses.
At some point, I realized something simple. “I’ll do it later” = Never. There are only two states you can be in.
You either wait, hoping for the perfect moment when everything aligns and life suddenly becomes easier (spoiler: it won’t).
Or you act - you do what needs to be done and make it part of your routine.
That’s it. That simple. And that difficult.
Even after realizing this, I didn’t change right away. I kept going in circles. Until one day, I came across a phrase that hit me hard:
It will never be the right time.
And suddenly, everything clicked. There will never be a perfect moment. Life is always moving, always changing. If you keep waiting for the “right time” to start saving and investing, you’ll still be waiting years from now.
Then I asked myself a question - what will I tell myself in 30 years?
“Hey, sorry… there just wasn’t enough time. That’s why now, at 60, you’re waking up early on Saturdays to go to your second job. Weekends included. You don’t have many options left but you’ll figure something out.”
Yeah. Terrible plan.
So I made a different one. Or rather, I borrowed it from people who were already ahead of me and it changed everything.
I started setting aside 15–30% of every dollar I earned. Every single time. No matter how much I made, I paid myself first. Everything else came later.
Once a month, I transferred that money to my brokerage account and bought stocks. At the beginning, it was small - $20, $30, maybe $50. Sometimes I couldn’t even buy a full share.
But something important had changed. My capital started growing. Consistently.
And here’s the surprising part - nothing in my life got worse. I didn’t fall into debt. I didn’t lose anything. The world didn’t collapse.
The only thing that changed was this: I started building wealth.
Today, I don’t even think about it. It’s automatic. Every time I earn, a portion goes straight into investments without hesitation.
Paying myself first - because there will never be a “right time” - was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. I made my choice.
Now, what’s yours?
Enjoy your Sunday coffee ☕
