Here’s something I was thinking about last week.

“That’s exactly why I love dividends. I have no idea what the market is going to do next week — none of us do — but I’m about 99% confident I’ll hit that $1,000/month level.”

And you know what? We did it. That first major milestone is officially behind us — $1,000 a month in dividends. That’s real money. That’s cash landing in my bank account every single month — starting now, and continuing forward. What started as $1 a month has now turned into $1,000.

Now here’s where it gets interesting.

In my case, I’ve invested about $330,000 into the portfolio. I’m 41 years old today. I’m an optimist — I’m aiming for 90. Sounds like a good long run. So let’s run a simple thought experiment together.

This week felt… calm. Productive. Focused.

I added shares of one of my favorite companies during a sudden drop that didn’t make much sense. You’ve seen days like that. The headlines spin. The price dips hard. For a few hours, it feels dramatic. Then you step back.

The business didn’t change. The cash flow didn’t change. The dividend policy didn’t change.

Right now, my dividend engine is producing about $890 per month.

Not flashy. But very real. That’s about $29 per day hitting the income structure. Whether I log in or not.

The Freedom Bar — which measures how much of life’s core expenses are covered by dividend income — is now sitting at roughly 32% complete. Thirty-two percent.

You might think, “That’s not 100% yet.” True. But here’s what you know from your own experience: the hardest part of any journey is the early slope. Once momentum builds, it carries weight.

And we’re at that stage. Some expenses are already fully covered by the 10-year dividend forecast:

This week, I moved according to plan — as usual.

The only “off-schedule” move (though not entirely unexpected) was adding shares of Primerica on the earnings dip. It turned out to be one of those mornings when the market gives you a gift. The price came in at $233 per share — a level that made sense in today’s environment — and I acted.

Otherwise, I continue focusing on businesses that pay solid dividends today and have the capacity to grow those payments meaningfully over time. Current income matters. Long-term dividend expansion matters even more. We build both layers at the same time.

Looking ahead to next week, my focus remains on names from the Dividend Eagles list. I’m also watching a couple of companies from my personal watchlist.

This past week is a perfect example of how the system works when it’s doing its job.

We reinvested dividends. Several companies raised their payouts. Income moved higher. Capital value moved higher too.

Starting a New Chapter — Year Three of the Open Dividend Experiment

We’re officially turning the page.

In the last issue, we wrapped up 2025. And the result is simple — after just a year and a half, this portfolio is now generating close to $1,000 per month in dividends that will keep coming in for the rest of my life.

🎄 Closing Out the Year

Another magical week of the year is coming to an end — and I’m finishing it in a great mood.

This is the time to slow down a bit, look back at the year, take stock, set new goals, and then keep moving forward. But there’s something I enjoy even more than planning.

No matter whether I’m planning, taking action, or doing absolutely nothing — my dividend income keeps growing. My passive income keeps working.

Over the past year and a half, together with you, I’ve planted a solid tree. And that tree is already producing fruit. The companies I selected now send more and more dollars to my bank account every single month — steadily and predictably.

I take that income and buy more shares. The snowball keeps rolling.
